THE BRENDON HOUSE & EXMOOR EXPERIENCE

Formerly a farmhouse, Brendon House was built circa 1780 and still retains many of the original features and character. Brendon House sits in an acre of mature gardens on the village outskirts, elevated above the East Lyn river, with fields and rugged moorland at the rear, making it one of the best locations in the area. From the house the Brendon Valley sweeps east to Malmsmead, brought to fame by the book "Lorna Doone", and west to Watersmeet then onward to the villages of Lynton and Lynmouth.
Ian and Sandra have gained a reputation for serving wholesome Devonshire country style dishes with many of the vegetables grown in the gardens. They take great pride in cooking and serving local meats, seafood and game, including pheasant, partridge, venison and rabbit and were Highly Commended "For providing excellent food and service" in the North Devon Good Food Awards 2003. Brendon house is licensed and has an excellent selection of good wines. Menu In the Spring and Autumn there are log fires.
Brendon House is a "Country Guest House", with five letting rooms, residents lounge and restaurant. It is small enough to be warm, cosy and affordable, yet big enough to give all the comforts that many of the larger establishments offer.
